Welcome to the 2007 Marching Season of the Doherty Color Guard!!  My name is Courtny and I am the captain of our guard this year.  I am a senior and this will be my fourth season with the color guard.  We have already gone through several months of “beginners” practices, and a rookie camp: where the newcomers learned all of the marching fundamentals they will need for the season.  We finished Guard Camp, where we met at school each day and began with stretches and basic warm-ups.  During Guard Camp the girls started learning the routine for this year’s show.  I am extremely proud of how quickly they have been catching on to the new work.  They seem eager to learn and are attentive at practice.  Then we had two weeks of Band Camp.  I’m excited to say that I’m ready to “show them off” and all they’ve learned in so little time.  They’ve been working very hard and seem to be having tons of fun.  We are bonding well as a team, and with the continued support of family and friends I know we will have the fun and productive season I anticipate.
